X-Caliber’s integrated rack and kickstand mounts make it easy to outfit your bike for any. ![]() Larger sizes have bigger 29 wheels and smaller sizes have more proportional 27.5 wheels. If youre looking for a trail orientated hardtail, the Roscoe fits the bill. The Trek Roscoe 7 is more affordable, but it still has some components made to downgrade, a Shimano Deore 12-speed drivetrain that is a bit lower than the Trek X-Caliber 9, and Shimano MT200 brakes. X-Caliber comes in seven frame sizes to suit any height, and Smart Wheel Size ensures that every rider gets the fastest wheel that fits. You're doing exactly the right thing to decide, getting opinions on pb, going into stores, looking on You Tube, checking and comparing spec, etc. The X-Caliber 7 gets much of the same kit as the X-Caliber 8 with the only difference in spec being its Shimano Deore 10-speed drivetrain. The reason I'd pick the Trek is the Boost aspect of the forks/wheels and tapered headtube which will add up to a stronger and more responsive feeling ride on trails but in real terms you probably wouldn't notice any difference for riding around the neighbourhood and streets. Both drivetrains (shifters, cassette and derailleurs) are Deore which makes them the same in quality and features, the difference in serial numbers is basically that the Trek is 1x10, the Giant is 1x12 speed. Or there is usually a disclaimer at the end of a spec list like 'We reserve the right to make changes to the product information without notice, including with respect to equipment, specifications, models, colors, and materials'?Īs I said both bikes are similar so would be good. This is where I looked up the spec on the Giant which says it has a coil fork, perhaps the spec is slightly different here in the U.K? Maybe the one you saw in the store was a previous model? Choose based on what parts of the spec you think are better for what you need. ![]() ![]() Only giving you an opinion but if you actually prefer the Giant over the Trek then it's not a bad purchase by any means.
